After he has too many drinks with the boys, Judith orders Jeremy to sleep on their cruiser. The next morning, he clambers out of the cabin and trips over the dead body of a young woman! Caron's only clue is a Victorian comb in her pocket. Jean quickly realizes that it's a cake comb-but why would that be there? Can Jean figure out who the woman is and get Jeremy back into Judith's good graces?

Jean takes center stage to uncover a deadly family drama played out over decades at the Sainte Victoire Theatre. In 1974 an actress was killed in her dressing room, and, in the current day, a wake is held for Anna Dumonet, a leading light of the stage. Afterwards, Anna's daughter asks Jean to help find out the truth about her mother and solve crimes both past and present.

Jeremy and Judith have recently purchased a remote country mansion, but when they arrive to start the refurbishment, they are shocked to find the previous owner shot dead at the kitchen table, clutching a unique key in his hand. Caron calls in Jean to help determine the key's significance within a house full of antiques, but even Jean is surprised by what it unlocks.

For the first time, Jean has friends from England visiting Sainte Victoire: a fellow antiques dealer and his new husband on their honeymoon. They just want to enjoy the town's beautiful shops and sights, but they seem to have someone on their trail, intent on making it a very short trip. Could the key lie in a mysterious pack of old Tarot cards? Or is there something even more sinister at play?

Jeremy's old rock and roll friend, Dura, is recording his comeback album at the château's millhouse. When he is found murdered in a locked room, with a strange symbol drawn on his face, Caron asks Jean to try to make sense of it all. Can Jean and Dom find out how Dura could die in a locked room alone? And who would want the rock legend dead?
